Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, the two European clubs with the highest revenues in 2018

MADRID, Jan. 16 (SportsFinding) –

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, with 751 and 692 million euros, have once again become the European clubs with the highest income in 2018, according to the UEFA comparative report 'Panorama of European club football' and which highlights the good health of Spanish LaLiga, although it is still behind the 'Premier' and Bundesliga in global turnover.

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, together with Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla, are the four Spanish clubs that appear in the top 30 in the ranking for revenue recorded in 2018, reveals this study to which Europa Press has had access. The entity that presides over Florentino Pérez is in the first place of this table with revenues of 751 million euros, 11 percent more than the previous year, ahead of FC Barcelona, with 692 million.

Atlético de Madrid is in the twelfth position, with 352 million euros, with a rise of 30%, and Sevilla appears in 28th place, with 165 million euros, 17 percent more than in 2017. Everything points to that, in 2019, the income of these clubs will have grown significantly. FC Barcelona will record revenues of 852 million, which will exceed 757 million of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's leadership is due to its successes in 2018, when it won the Champions League and entered 94 million euros for its victory. In fact, the white club won the most monetary prizes from UEFA. FC Barcelona pocketed 60 million euros and occupies the ninth position of this table. Atlético and Sevilla are in the 13th and 14th place, with 48 and 47 million euros respectively.

This economic injection for both, like Real Madrid in 2017, makes FC Barcelona the club with the highest salary increase in absolute terms (151 million euros), which makes the Blaugrana the first club of the story that has recorded a total salary expense exceeding 500 million.

Real Madrid occupies the second place in the salary classification, as it has paid 431 million in 2018. Atlético de Madrid also reported a significant salary increase (19%) that has allowed it to reach 212 million euros and place itself in The eleventh position.

Another of the conclusions of the report is the strength of LaLiga, reflected in the benefits of up to 18 of the 20 clubs that make up LaLiga Santander. This is due to the increase in television rights for four seasons. UEFA describes it as a “record” and an “important achievement.” “It has been achieved in a few years after LaLiga implants a financial control mechanism,” the European body notes.

However, in terms of signings, the relative level of general transfer activity in Spain remains lower than that of the
rest of the five major league countries. The transfer cost in Spain is equivalent to 29% of the annual income. The exposure in the balance sheet of debits and credits for transfers, also equivalent to 29% of annual income, is the second lowest of the five major leagues, behind Germany (17%).

At the end of the year, LaLiga clubs still have to pay 633 million euros for transfers, less than Premier League clubs (1,665 million euros) and A series (1,324), but more than clubs of the French Ligue 1 (498), of the Bundesliga (282) and of the Portuguese league (235).

In total revenues, La Liga fell to third place in the ranking by income of the top-division clubs despite the fact that its revenues grew from 2,900 million euros to 3,100 million in the financial year of 2018. The amount is still considerably less than the 5.4 billion of the Premier. This year, La Liga is just behind the Bundesliga (3.2 billion euros), but ahead of Serie A (2.300).

GOOD HEALTH IN ASSISTANCE AND RRSS

In addition, the UEFA report focuses on stadium attendance and highlights FC Barcelona, the club that has registered the highest aggregate attendance than any other club in the 2018/19 season, with a total of 1,436,400 spectators, so it exceeds the total of Manchester United.

Old Trafford was assisted by 1,415,462 fans, the club that had risen to the top spot in this statistic in 2017/18. For their part, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid have also registered total assists that exceed one million spectators, adding up all the games of the season at the Santiago Bernabéu and the Wanda Metropolitano.

For its part, in the social networks section the Premier League and LaLiga are the leading competitions. The British sends on Instagram, with more than 32 million followers, while LaLiga heads Facebook, with more than 56 million likes. Of the clubs analyzed in this report, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are the two most
popular on social media platforms, with about 200 million followers each.

Finally, stadium sponsorship – name rights – exists in four LaLiga clubs, in three Series A stadiums, in three Ligue 1 stadiums, in five Premier League stadiums and in 15 Bundesliga stadiums , being the Spanish one of the European competitions that has less sponsorships of this type.
