Raúl, in the Hall of Fame

The Spanish Raúl González is among the twelve figures elected this Tuesday in voting to enter the Pachuca Soccer Hall of Fame, Mexico.

Raúl, chosen in the international category, is the second highest scorer in the history of Real Madrid, with which he won 16 trophies as a footballer, including 6 leagues and 3 European cups. It is also the second top scorer in the history of the Spanish team.

Along with the Spanish, the Brazilians Ronaldinho Y Roberto Carlos and italian Fabio Cannavaro they were chosen in the international category. Also entering the Brazilian Waldir 'Didí'Pereira and the Swedish Pia Sundhage.

Midfielder Didí, died in 2001, was imposed as International Dean, due to his career as a footballer with the Brazilian team, which he helped win the World Cup in Sweden in 1958, in which he was named best player, and Chile in 1962.

Sundhage, current coach of the Brazilian women's team, has an outstanding career as a player as one of the greatest Swedish figures; on the benches he has won two olympic gold medals as coach of the United States.

In the Mexican soccer category, the Brazilian was chosen Antonio Carlos Santos, figure of the Águilas del América, and the goalkeepers Pablo Larios Y Oswaldo Sanchez, considered two of the best goalkeepers in the country.

In the category of Mexican women's football, the one chosen was the former Barcelona forward Maribel 'Marigol' Domínguez, who played two World Cups with Mexico, in which she stood out as a scorer.

The vote, originally scheduled for April, was held among 101 journalists from Mexico, America and Europe who announced their votes by video call.

The intention of the organizers is that in some month of 2021 they can make the investiture of the tenth edition in Pachuca, where the Hall of Fame is, and to which they hope that the elected or one of their family members can attend.

Among the members of the Pachuca Hall of Fame, inaugurated in 2011, are Pelé, Diego Armando Maradona, Johan Cryuff, Alfredo Di Stéfano or Hugo Sánchez, and more than 130 figures from world football.
