Raúl Fernández leads Moto2 and Gardner watches him closely in Cheste

Miller and Guevara were the fastest in MotoGP and Moto3

BARCELONA, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Australian rider Jack Miller (Ducati) in MotoGP, Spanish Raúl Fernández (Kalex) in Moto2 and Spanish Izan Guevara (GasGas) in Moto3 were the fastest this Friday in the first free practice sessions of the Valencian Community Grand Prix that closes this Motorcycle World Championship 2021.

In Moto2, the only category that does not have a champion yet, the Spanish Raúl Fernández (Red Bull KTM Ajo) signed a 1: 35.802 with which he was the fastest, just ahead of his teammate and current championship leader Remy Gardner , 55 thousandths slower.

Fernández needs almost a miracle to overcome the Australian and achieve the world title, with those 23 ballast points with which he arrives at this last round of the championship. Still, Fernández is doing his homework and is currently the fastest on Friday.

After these teammates who are fighting for the title, and in a day also marked by that water that made their own, the third in contention was the Spanish Augusto Fernández (Kalex), with the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex) fourth and the also Spanish Xavi Vierge (Kalex), fifth.

The premier class of MotoGP left everything to FP2, due to the rain that fell early in the morning. Even so, Cheste did not warm up either in the stands or on the asphalt and Jack Miller (Ducati) was the fastest with a discreet 1: 30.927.

It was, yes, even this Friday, with Pol Espargaró (Repsol Honda) 12 thousandths behind the Australian and with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) being third, 68 thousandths behind his teammate.

There were several falls, none of them with serious consequences, but the truth is that the passage from wet to dry did not prevent Pol Espargaró himself or the current champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) from falling in the second round. Quartararo was eleventh, out of Q2.

On the other hand, in Moto3 the best times were those of FP1, as no rider was able to improve his own time in the second session. Thus, the 1: 39.561 of Izan Guevara (GasGas) in the morning was the best, despite Dennis Foggia (Honda) taking FP2.

Pedro Acosta, brand new champion of the small category, is still dule. The one from Mazarrón, whose incentive is to achieve his first ‘pole’ of the World Cup, finished the day in fifth position behind Filip Salac, Andrea Migno and Darryn Binder, who completed the ‘Top 5’.
