Marcus Rashford has echoed the abuses that are committed on social media. The referee Mike Dean and the coaches of Newcastle, Arsenal and Leed, Steve Bruce, Mikel Arteta and Marcelo Bielsa recently revealed that they have been the target of threats from fans through the networks.
According to the Manchester United striker, it should be a straightforward process to remove certain derogatory comments so that social media can be a positive platform in terms of learning about other cultures.
“Online abuse should be easy to stop, just deactivate the accounts,” he told Sky Sports News. “We know that it is very easy to create four or five accounts, but if you have to block them all, then block them all.
“That is in the social media companies themselves. If they see someone abusing in any way, their account should be deleted immediately, that's how I would handle it, “he added.
“But it is a place that people should enjoy. Ten or 15 years ago I was not there and we are lucky to have them (the networks), to be able to connect with people from all over the world and from different cultures and religions. Used in a negative light it's stupid and I hope they can solve that problem and it can be a good place. “
Facebook-owned Instagram announced new measures, including removing accounts to prevent abusive posts on its platform, while Twitter condemned the behavior and promised to work closely with the soccer community to address unacceptable behavior.
