How did you see the game?
I think we had a very good first part, we tried the things that we had planned…. We didn’t manage to change the energy environment in a goal. It is very important not to fit in and we fit in just before the break. We lost position. It was a foul on one of our players, the referee didn’t see it that way. We shouldn’t have gone into the break losing. It is very important to score the first goal and even more so against a team like Atlético. In the second half I don’t know if two minutes were played without any Atlético player on the ground. There were some curious decisions from the referee, we tried everything, from set pieces, but in play we did not create opportunities.
He talks about the way Atlético managed the match…
For ten years they play like this, it’s the way they play. It would have been important not to concede more than to score. We didn’t do it, we hit the crossbar… We didn’t always make the right decisions, shooting instead of passing… It was a good performance, especially in the first half.
Was Manchester United naive in the first half?
Atlético plays in the Champions League with that style of football and it’s not that easy. We need a lot of physical to break the wall of Atlético.
Manchester United missed a great opportunity to pass…
We didn’t score a goal in the first half. 85 percent will go with the national team and when they return we will have three days to play a match. We have to win away against Arsenal. The only way to be fourth in the league is to win all nine games.
Did the changes have the effect you wanted?
We tried everything to find the equalizer.
