Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram dies at 58

Andy Goram, legendary goalkeeper Glasgow Rangers, He has died at the age of 58, a victim of cancer, the Scottish club announced this Saturday on their social networks. “The Rangers Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, after a short battle with cancer.”

Andy Goram was diagnosed with terminal cancer last May. Doctors gave him six months to live, after the excancerbero refused chemotherapy treatment. “Going through chemotherapy and suffering martyrdom for three more months and zero quality of life? No thanks. Chemotherapy is not on the menu,” Goram told the Daily Record.

Born in England (Scottish on his father’s side), Goram began his career in 1981 at English club Oldham Athletic (2nd division), before joining the Hibernian in 1987 in the Scottish first division. But it was his transfer to the Glasgow Rangers four years later what changed his career.

Goram played 260 games there between 1991 and 1998. During these seven years, the Scottish goalkeeper (43 caps for the national team) enjoyed a prosperous period, winning six Scottish Championship titles out of nine in a row for his club (1989 – 1997) and participated in the European Championships of 92 and 96.

Mountains also represented Scotland in the cricket four times between 1989 and 1991. He is the only Scot to have played cricket and football at the highest level simultaneously.
