Ramos, Zapata and Bucsa are eliminated in Melbourne

Ruud, Lehecka and Blinkova, executioners of the Spanish in the first round of the Australian Open

MADRID, 16 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis players Albert Ramos, Bernabé Zapata and Cristina Bucsa have said goodbye in their first match of the final draw of the Australian Open, the first 'Grand Slam' of the season, after losing to the Norwegian Casper Ruud (6-1, 6- 3, 6-1), the Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-3, 6-2, 6-3) and the Russian Anna Blinkova (6-2, 6-4), respectively.

Ramos, currently at number 85 in the ATP ranking, had no options against the eleventh world racket, which only allowed him to get one game in the entire initial round. In the second, a break against him weighed on the Barcelonan, who lost the set again, losing his serve.

Already in the third set, Ruud closed the contest in just over two hours, winning the last five games against the Catalan, a result that helped him meet the Australian Max Purcell in the next round.

Meanwhile, Zapata also said goodbye to the oceanic 'great' in three sets against Lehecka. The Valencian, ranked 78th in the ranking, defended himself against a break opportunity from his rival in the second game, but lost the set when suffering a break in the sixth.

In the second set, he reacted with a break after the Czech went ahead 4-1, but ended up falling, and in the third he wasted three break points against an opponent who completed his victory in one hour and 43 minutes after taking the last four games.

With these two new casualties from the 'Armada' in the men's team, the Spanish representation is reduced to Carlos Alcaraz from Murcia, Alejandro Davidovich from Malaga and Jaume Munar from the Balearic Islands.

Finally, Bucsa was eliminated against Blinkova in a match in which she failed to break the Russian tennis player's serve on any of the four occasions she enjoyed. Two breaks in the first set and one in the second were enough for the number 57 in the WTA ranking to guarantee her passage to the second round.
