Ramón Calderón: “I had no feeling of harm”

MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The former president of Real Madrid Ramón Calderón denied having had “any feeling” of arbitration prejudice during his time as white leader and, still on the ‘Negreira case’, asked to respect the presumption of innocence.

“I didn’t have any feeling of harm. What’s more, we won an incredible League in which Barça took 9 points from us with a few days to go and we came back,” he told the media at an event prior to Sunday’s Clásico.

For Calderón, it is “fundamental to respect the presumption of innocence.” “What I have read is contradictory information, I have heard Barcelona defend itself, and we do not know the truth. Those who know it are the ones who will have the evidence and testimonies of those involved in the matter on the table,” he said.

“Because of my status as a lawyer, I don’t like parallel trials. I don’t want to go into disquisitions, I don’t know the situation,” added the man who was president of Real Madrid between 2006 and 2009.

“The presumption of innocence is a basic principle and we have already seen cases like that of a president (Sandro Rosell) who spent two years in jail and was later acquitted,” he concluded.
