Bulgarian Magomed Ramazanov, Japanese Higuchi Rei and Japanese Sakurai Tsugumi took home gold medals in Olympic freestyle wrestling at the Paris 2024 Games on Friday.
Ramazanov won the 86kg final 7-1 over Iran’s Hassan Yazdanicharati, who claimed his third consecutive medal in as many Games, while the podium was completed by American Aaron Brooks and Greek Dauren Kurugliev.
Rei also won the men’s 57kg category, beating his American opponent Spencer Richard Lee 4-2 in the final. The bronze medals went to India’s Aman Sehrawat and Uzbekistan’s Gulomjon Abdullaev.
In the women’s 57kg category, the gold medal went to Japan, with Sakurai Tsugumi beating Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita 6-0. The bronze medal went to American Helen Maroulis and Chinese Hong Kexin.
