Rajwa Al-Saif’s surprising bridal look: flat shoes, diamonds and three meters of train

The Zahran Palace, in Amman, has experienced a lavish royal wedding this Thursday, that of heir Prince Hussein with the young Saudi architect Rajwa Al Saif, before a list of 140 illustrious guests, including emeritus or English heirs. The bride has arrived in a 1968 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, which was made to measure for her great-grandmother and her husband, and upon getting out she has finally discovered the great secret of every wedding: her wedding dress.

Rajwa has chosen a dress with an asymmetrical neckline, long sleeves and a fitted and draped silhouette, signed by Elie Saab and inspired by an earlier model made especially for Rania from Jordan. Although the skirt is straight and has an opening to facilitate the bride’s movements, an impressive three-meter-long die-cut train with a rounded finish emerges from the waist, embellished with delicate three-dimensional floral embroidery. It is made of crepe with a matte finish.

The bride has chosen to wear a simple tulle veil and also a diamond tiara, to match the earrings, and a bouquet of white roses.

The surprise was in the footwear: typical Jordanian flat slippers with slits and an arabesque tip. A very unusual option that only another ‘royal’ has chosen before, specifically Victoria of England in 1840. She, who was a dancer, wanted to wink at her passion by getting married with satin ballet shoes and adorned with tapes.
