Stonewall Inn

The history

The celebration of the International LGTBI Pride Day reminds us that in New York On June 28, 1969, there was a police search in the local gay Stonewall Inn. As the policemen were taking the clients out to the street to take them to the police station, a crowd of people gathered in front of the premises to demonstrate against that injustice. It was the first time that the gay community strongly rebelled against the institutional and social repression it suffered. This event is considered to have marked the beginning of homosexual liberation.

The first Pride demonstration was held in New York on June 28, 1970. In 1977, at the Ramblas of Barcelonathe first demonstration for the rights of the LGTBI collective in the Spanish state took place.
