Rafael Amargo, on hunger strike like Luis Rubiales' mother: “He is emaciated”

If in summer she was the mother of Luis Rubiales the one that made headlines (national and international) for its hunger strike (it only lasted two and a half days) from the Church of Motril (Granada), is now Rafael Amargo who has declared himself in this state from prison.

It must be remembered that the bailaor entered provisional prison on November 3 after not going to court to sign. The artist had to do it every fifteen days after being accused of drug trafficking in 2020.

From the Soto del Real prison, Madrid, there is news related to him. Amargo went on hunger strike on January 4 because he believes that he is experiencing an unfair situation after being denied provisional release.

Her new lawyer spoke this weekend at Fiesta: “There are no reasons for him to be in prison, I would say that it is rather a diabolical strategy for him to be in prison. He is serving a sentence when he has not even been tried and they allege a flight risk when there has never been one because he did go to trial.” .

In this sense, about the hunger strike, he gave some details: “'On day three [de enero] He made the decision, the 4th informed him, on the 7th I went to see him and he was already a little emaciated, a little bad and from then on he stopped calling me and started sending other prisoners to call me (…) They weigh him every day to see if he is really losing weight or if he is failing to comply and they told him 'choose, either you die or you stop the hunger strike.'”

In prison

At the beginning of the month, the Madrid Court ordered that the Granada artist remains in prison until the trial in which he is accused of selling drugs, and it was disgraceful that he failed to comply with the obligation to sign in court, doing so “a minimum percentage” of times and “when he believes it appropriate”, and also without medically justifying it.

Section 30 of the Madrid court denied the appeal filed by the artist against the order of November 3 by which the magistrates agreed to the precautionary measure of provisional detention without bail until the trial, scheduled for April of this year. .

In that order, the same Section argued risk of flight and repeated breach of the obligation to sign every 15 days in the judicial body, as defended by the Prosecutor's Office, and sent Rafael Amargo to the Soto del Real prison. He also took the same average for another of the three defendants facing trial, the producer Eduardo de Santos.
