The vice president confirms and values the continuity of the FC Barcelona coach after the meeting at Laporta’s house

The first vice president and sports department of FC Barcelona, Rafa Yuste, confirmed Xavi Hernández’s change of mind to continue being the Barça coach next season, highlighting “excitement” and “commitment” in the project as key.
“We are happy for your decision, that everything continues the same. We are sure that the enthusiasm that has been generated continues,” he said this Wednesday around twelve at night, after leaving the meeting they had with the president of the club, Joan Laporta.
Yuste explained to the media, at the door of Laporta’s house, the change of decision in Xavi who in January surprised at a press conference by announcing that he would not continue at the club after this season. “He is very excited about the project. He will explain it tomorrow with the president, there is total unanimity,” he stated.
During the afternoon, club sources confirmed to Europa Press Xavi’s new position of continuing on the bench of a Barça team that, although it has not yet finished the League, is painting a blank season after being eliminated last week in the Liga Champions and with the tough defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
“Xavi was always the option. We have talked about the project and nothing else. There is a project that he wants to develop and continue, a project that is forged based on the young people who are coming up. It is also forged in the fact that Xavi has detected an enthusiasm for part of the social mass of the enormous club in the quarterfinals of the European Cup. This gives him enormous strength to continue with all of us,” he stated about the coach’s motives.
On the other hand, Yuste trusted that the club will continue working to achieve an economic situation that allows signings. “It will depend on the economic part of the club, on seeking the necessary ‘fair play’ and that is what we are doing, we are working to comply with the standard. The word is ‘excitement’, it is ‘commitment’ and it is ‘project’,” he concluded.
