‘Rafa Nadal, Simply Legend’: illustrated biography

This week, a highly topical title has been placed on the shelves of Spanish bookstores, that it is not going to pick up the new final of the Spanish tennis player in Paris, but it does tell details (some unknown) about the successful sports career of someone who transcends his discipline to become a national character: Rafa Nadal Simply Legend. That is the title of one of the most exhaustive biographies on the Balearic written by the English journalist and writer Dominic Bliss.

Bliss is not just a sports specialist, although she has worked for various sports publications and even for the Arsenal football club. He has followed Nadal’s career from its beginnings, when he was a star project, until he rose to the top in world tennis, which has allowed him to have several personal interviews with the Spaniard, whom he says is “a charming, approachable guy… who isn’t interested in the VIP aspects of world fame.”

Through ten thematic chapters in which Dominic dissects the key concepts that have defined Rafa’s career, from the first national championship when he was 14 years old to the present, He reviews the training stage, his winning mentality, his rituals, the close relationship with his family and friends. And all this accompanied by a collection of two hundred photographs that illustrate all this evolution.

Perhaps because of the quality of their photographs on this occasion it is the Lunwerg publishing house, Grupo Planeta, specializing in the publication of large-format illustrated books, which presents the work, and which joins other biographies dedicated to tennis published by Planeta, like Federer’s or Serena Williams’s. With 240 pages and a paperback cover with flaps, the sale price of each copy is 21.50 euros.
