Rafa Nadal announces his retirement after the Davis Cup Finals

MADRID 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal, winner of 22 ‘Grand Slams’, announced this Thursday that he will retire from professional tennis after the dispute with Spain in the Davis Cup Finals that will be held in Malaga next November.

“I am retiring from professional tennis. These last two years have been difficult in which I have not been able to play without limitations. It is a difficult decision and it has taken me time to make it, but in this life everything has a beginning and an end and it is the right time to put an end to a long and much more successful career than I could have ever imagined,” Nadal said in a video.

The Spaniard will leave it after the Davis Cup. “I am very excited that my last tournament is the Davis Cup Finals and representing my country, it is closing the circle since one of my first joys was the final in Seville in 2004,” he admitted.
