Rafa Mir’s compromising call to his alleged victim’s friend: “Have you reported me?”

New details have been revealed in the investigation into the Mir case. Eight days after the Valencia footballer was arrested for alleged sexual assault, it has come to light that Rafa called the alleged victim’s friend hours after their meeting, specifically at 6pm, with a clear and concise question: “Have you reported me?”The information is included in the police report that includes this and other details, such as the results of the medical examination that the young woman underwent at La Fe Hospital and in which, according to the official, she had numerous bruises on her arms, which forced them to activate the Aggression Protocol.

The case is complex, as there are up to three different statements from the alleged victim: the first was given to the local police, who went to the house where she was meeting with Rafa Mir and other friends. There, the young woman claimed that the relations had been consensual. Later, in the car with her father and her friend, she confessed that Mir forced her. They took her to the hospital where, after being examined, she was questioned by the National Police. It was in this second statement that she spoke of sexual assault. A day later, she testified again before the Civil Guard in a meeting that lasted five hours and in which she expanded on the details of what allegedly happened. Judge Vázquez Taín, a regular on the Later, He explained: “The first statement is not valid because you have to guarantee a safe and calm environment for the victim. These were not the conditions, in front of the alleged aggressor, by the way.”

The judge believes there are indications to suggest that there was sexual assault, while the footballer’s defence is asking for the statement of the agent who took the first statement, in which the young woman spoke of consensual relations. She has refused to testify, stating that everything she had to say is already in the report, while her colleague claims that “he heard nothing”.

Rafa Mir’s statement

This Monday, the footballer issued a statement on social media: “After a period of reflection, I want to make my innocence clear,” the text begins: “I fully trust the Administration of Justice in this country, with which I have collaborated from the first minute to clarify the facts.”

The athlete took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the support he had received: “For all this, I would like to express my most sincere and profound apologies to my Club, Valencia CF, to the coaching staff, to my teammates and mainly to the Valencia fans, for failing, even on a day off, to comply with the rigour of the schedule expected of a professional and even more so after a start to the season that was far from our expectations. From now on, as a professional footballer, all my energies are focused on helping my Club and my teammates.” And he finished: “I do not want to forget to thank my family for the love and support they have shown me at all times. Your love and the truth will help me overcome this traumatic situation that I am experiencing.”
