MADRID, 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Racing de Ferrol beat Real Valladolid (0-1) this Thursday on matchday 21 of LaLiga Hypermotion to place second in the table, at the expense of the Pucelana aspirations of that direct promotion zone, while Real Oviedo tied in extremis (1-1) to Villarreal B to continue looking up.
José Zorrilla started cold and ended just as cold but with the anger of seeing his team fall in the fight for second place. The Galicians, who say goodbye to 2023 in direct promotion positions, won with a goal from Álvaro Giménez near halftime.
The reaction of the locals was not accompanied by good football in the second half and Valladolid thus suffered its third defeat in the last four games. A burden on Pezzolano's men to try to open the door to the first two places. With 37 points, compared to the 35 of the Pucelanos, those from Ferrol placed second.
Furthermore, Real Oviedo held on to score points towards the 'Top 6' with Álex Cardero's 1-1 in the 93rd minute, which torpedoed a yellow 'submarine' that remains two points above relegation. The lower zone experienced an intense afternoon with the victories of Huesca and Alcorcón against Cartagena (3-0) and Amorebieta (1-2).
The Huesca team, one point away from safety, struck down its rival with three goals in 10 minutes, before half-time, from Vilarrasa, Vallejo and Kortajarena. Meanwhile, the Madrid team, three away from leaving the red zone, came back against the Basques to chain two victories and begin to trust in 2024 to save the category.
