Rabiot, the pardoned

Adrien Rabiot's international career seemed to have taken a final turn in 2018. The Juventus midfielder was not called up by Didier Deschamps for the World Cup in Russia, but yes for the substitute list, that is, he had to train at Clarefontaine to be prepared to replace any of the 23 summoned in case of injury. Rabiot, who was still at PSG at that time, refused to go on the “B” list, signing his almost final sentence with the French team.

However, despite the message from Deschamps, ensuring that he only saw Rabiot as a defensive midfielder with the national team and not as an interior (something that already caused problems for Emery at PSG), the midfielder returned to a call-up from France in 2020. It was in the national team break in September and the French coach did not dare to answer the reason for calling Rabiot and not Karim Benzema, away from Les Bleus since his controversy with Valbuena in 2016.

Yesterday, Adrien Rabiot played the 90 minutes in the French team's goalless draw against Portugal. The former PSG player received harsh criticism for his first part, in which he did not engage with Pogba in the middle and made several unforced errors. France was outmatched in midfield during some sections of the match and it was surprising that Deschamps did not give in to Camavinga or Aouar due to the difficulties of Saint-Maurice in the division.
