The Spanish sportsman from Spainsnow Quim Salarich (FCEH-LMCE) has achieved his first victory in the European Cup at SL de Levi (FIN) this Saturday, showing that he is ending the season in good shape and preparing for the next one and demanding World Cup campaign.
The Catalan athlete shone above notable rivals such as the Swiss Tanguy Nef and Sandro Simonet, the Frenchman Marc Digruber or the other athlete from Spainsnow, Juan del Campo (NKEF-EURO).
The Rossignol team rider had a great first set, placing himself in first position with a time of 52.11, ahead of Nef and Simonet. In the second round, the Catalan had a big difference that he had to manage intelligently to get his first victory in an SL Euro Cup.
Salarich surpassed Nef by 0.17 in the global calculation in a podium that was completed by the Norwegian Halvor Hilde Gunleiksrud (NOR), current leader of the European Cup, at 0.45. “I am very happy with my first victory in the European Cup after four podiums. I was aggressive in the first round and in the second I went down more intelligently to keep the advantage. Very happy with the result and now for the finals of the SL of the European Cup on March 14 in Narvik, in Norway”, said the Spaniard in statements to the Royal Spanish Federation of Winter Sports.
With this victory, Salarich is sixth in the classification of the Slalom specialty of the European Cup with a total of 270 points, while Juan del Campo rose to twelfth position with 157 points.
