MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish ‘rider’ Queralt Castellet prevailed this Friday in the first halfpipe FIS of the World Cup 22-23 played at the American station of Copper Mountain.
The Olympic silver medalist in Beijing’22 certified her great moment of form already in the first round, marking 89.75 points that gave her a solid first place, in a station in Colorado where the Spanish woman has already accumulated four podium finishes.
At Copper Mountain, Castellet had climbed to the drawer three times (bronze in 2021, gold in 2019 and third in 2013) and now, a gold in an unbeatable start to the course. The first round was masterful, with a huge pipe 7 meters deep (between the base and the coping).
The tricks performed by Sabadell were a switch backside 5, switch frontside 7, frontside 5 with a lot of air, backside 9 and frontside 7 to finish. The Spanish was accompanied on the podium by the Canadian Elizabeth Hosking with 88.75 and the Japanese Mitsuki Ono (85).
“I’ve been very cold today but I’m so happy that I don’t even remember it anymore, the victory is worth everything. This pipe is in very good condition and I feel very good after that first round in which I ironed everything getting a score which has allowed me to risk much more in the following ones, despite the fact that they have not turned out as expected to surpass 90 points. It is a result that gives me confidence for the rest of the season and especially for the World Cups”, he said in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Federation of Winter Sports.
