MADRID, 23 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish ‘rider’ Queralt Castellet has won the silver medal in the SuperPipe test at the X Games in Aspen (United States), a result that represents her fourth podium of the season and that fills her with confidence to face in just two weeks the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The Catalan took part in a grid of seven participants in a ‘jam session’ format competition, which aims to encourage creativity; for 30 minutes, the participants shoot rounds until completing a total of four.
Castellet, who started fifth, began by ironing the most technical round and took first place, although from the second round, the Japanese Sena Tomita – who suffered a fall in the first – snatched the first place to take the gold.
The one from Sabadell had an important fall in the third round, but improved in the fourth to hang up the silver. After having made the first three in ‘switch’, in the last one he took the pipe on its natural side -the left- and ironed a huge ‘Bs Air’, ‘Fs 540’, ‘Bs 900’, ‘Fs 720’ and ‘ Switch Inverted 7’. For her part, the also Japanese Haruna Matsumoto, who fell in the first three rounds, took the bronze.
In this way, Castellet, 17 days before starting his fifth Olympic Games, repeats the silver of 2019; in 2020, she won gold to become the first and only Spanish woman to do so at a winter X Games.
The one from Sabadell has been on the podium in all the events she has competed in, with two bronzes in the Copper Mountain and Laax Open World Cups and silver in the Dew Tour SuperPipe.
“It is very exciting to have been able to take silver tonight at the X Games in Aspen. It is the most important competition in action sports and it was very important for me to be here today. I have worked very hard in the preseason and I am very happy that is reflected in my results. I feel very strong and motivated and this season’s medals are, without a doubt, a shot of adrenaline for the big event next month”, Castellet pointed out.
