Soccer in Qatar is very close to reopening the curtain. The QSL (Qatar Stars League) has given the green light so that as of Monday, June 8, all Primera clubs will undergo the coronavirus PCR test. Once this first procedure is passed, the teams will restart the activity with the same protocol that LaLiga is carrying out, that is to say, the first two weeks of individual training, to then go on to reduced group sessions and finish with group training without limitations. In any case, the start of the competition in Qatar is still a little far on the horizon: the July 24.
In the case of Xavi Hernández's Al Sadd, the team will carry out the PCR test on June 13. But not all the players will be there that day, since the Qatari internationals plan to start on June 13 a rally with their team that will last until July 2. Thus, the nine internationals will pass the day before, on June 12, the PCR tests, before joining their selection. Al Sadd will start training on June 15.
The QSL also planned that, as soon as the PCR tests were finished, and if the results were negative, the teams would automatically concentrate in a hotel until the start of the competition. However, the clubs have managed to narrow this initiative -It was practically supposed to be confined two months in a hotel-, so finally this measure will be restricted only to the last two weeks before the start of the competition.
There is also a calendar for the first day of the QSL where Xavi's Al Sadd plays on Friday 24 July at 7pm at home against Al Khor. A game, like the European leagues, will be played behind closed doors. The leader, Al Duhail, plays on Saturday July 25 against Umm Salal at 4:45 p.m. With only five days to go, Al Duhail has everything in his hands to win the championship, by overtaking Al Rayyan by four points and Al Sadd by ten points.
