PSG’s economic waste has no reward

They say that money helps, but it does not bring happiness. Let them tell PSG, who are experiencing a day of reflection today after the elimination at the Bernabéu. More than a decade after the landing of Qatar Sports Investment, the club is still tiny in the context of the Champions League. Not even with Messi has that perception changed, also discussed in France because he has not reached the level that was expected when he left Barcelona in August.

PSG are running out of ideas but not financial resources, obsessed with enthroning themselves in Europe. Since writing a check to free Neymar in 2017, the Parisian side have spent a whopping 733 million euros. That same summer Mbappé also arrived from Monaco, the jewel in the crown. However, neither one nor the other could take the final step that was expected outside the borders of France.

After those two names that were so popular in the media, others such as Paredes, Buffon, Ander Herrera or Keylor Navas arrived in later years. In 2021 there was pyrotechnics: PSG took advantage of the fact that Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Wijnaldum and Messi had finished their contracts with their respective teams and took them to Paris for free. Everything to win the Champions. The economic waste of the last five years continues without reward. The emir of Qatar does not find valid solutions.
