PARIS, 12 Sep. (dpa/EP) –
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has ordered Paris Saint-Germain to pay striker Kylian Mbappé €55 million in outstanding wages that he claimed after being transferred to Real Madrid this summer, sports daily L’Équipe and other French media reported on Thursday.
The LFP’s legal commission ruled that PSG had unfairly failed to pay its former player, a new signing for Real Madrid this season, the salary components that were established in a supplementary agreement to his employment contract.
The sum demanded by the French striker is related to the outstanding monthly salaries for April, May and June, the last third of a bonus payment for the last contract extension that Mbappé made with the Parisian club, along with an “ethical bonus.”
In the dispute, PSG had invoked a verbal agreement to argue that it did not owe the player any money. However, Mbappé did not consider that this agreement had been fulfilled because his playing time had been drastically reduced after his transfer to Real Madrid was announced.
Mbappé played for PSG for seven years, but left the Parisian club about two months ago to sign for the Madrid team. He won the Ligue 1 six times and the Coupe de France four times, but did not win the Champions League, one of PSG’s main objectives.
