protected with a mask and ‘guarded’ by Natalia Figueroa

It has been almost a month since the artist was discharged from the 12 de Octubre Hospital. We then saw him serene and very smiling, happy to return home after spending several days hospitalized despite the diagnosis he carried under his arm: brain lymphoma. Since then, Raphael He has rested at home where he has enjoyed the tranquility and love of his loved ones. The care has borne fruit and this Monday he reappeared at the medical center with his wife, Natalia Figueroa. The artist protected himself from the cold of the capital with a coat and scarf, in addition to wearing a surgical mask to protect himself from possible infections.

In the images, broadcast in TardeARRaphael walked on his own two feet and chatted with a health worker, who gave him instructions. “It’s great,” said Ana Rosa. His collaborators corroborated this: “He is a very good patient, he has an absolutely serious agenda regarding nutrition and meals,” they said. “He absolutely attends to the medical issue, what he is told he complies to the letter, all this because he has Natalia as a police officer,” they added. And not just her: “Her children go to her house to eat every Sunday, they pay close attention to their father.”

Of course, they revealed that the artist from Linares has not stopped working during these weeks: “He has his studio in his house and continues working.” Obviously, he has slowed down and canceled his concerts and appearances, but precisely his music and a return to the stage is one of Raphael’s motivations at the moment. This is what the singer Pablo López said a few days ago: “He is strength, attitude. The ability this man has is incredible. He is inspiring. The present with which he speaks… I have not seen anyone conjugate any verb in the present like Mr. Martos does it. So, I can only tell you that I see him excited, in the present and with tremendous strength,” he assured Pablo Motos.

Raphael was admitted to the San Carlos Clinic in Madrid last December after feeling unwell while recording the TVE Christmas special. The team accompanying him realized that he had speech difficulties and disorientation, so they called an ambulance. After ruling out a stroke, the artist was transferred to October 12, where he underwent a liver transplant years ago. The center issued a statement at the request of the family: “Patient Mr. Rafael Martos Sánchez presents a primary brain lymphoma with two brain nodules in the left hemisphere that justify the neurological symptoms he presented a few days ago.” The artist, 81 years old, responds very well to treatment.
