Pros and cons of Pochettino and Raúl to replace Zidane

Real Madrid does not question Zidane and the leaders trust that he will be able to reverse this situation. But, as is logical, they have a roadmap marked in case a disaster occurs in the next matches. Mainly because they know that it is the French coach himself who, if at some point he does not feel capable, will step aside. In that sense, there are only two names on the table: Mauricio Pochettino and Raúl González. They both have pros and cons.

Experience

In this sense, Pochettino has a clear advantage. The Argentine's experience in a club like Tottenham, with which he managed to reach the Champions League final, supports him. In London, in addition, a situation similar to the one that Madrid is experiencing now was found. He had to go without signing for a while due to the financial problems that the club had, which was building a new stadium. He was forced to adapt his ideas to the template he had and managed to do so successfully. The problem here is that he would have little time to achieve it, but he is a coach with very clear things.

Club knowledge

This works very in Raúl's favor. Arriving with the season started, with a project that is not his, Pochettino would have very little time to instill his ideas. The ideal situation for the Argentine is to take a squad in which he can make adjustments to adjust it to his game model. In addition, he would find a dressing room that is to death with Zidane and that could see him as a strange element at a time when the coach would not have room to make changes due to the delicate economic situation. Raúl, on the other hand, would mean continuity. A coach who has a very good relationship with a large part of the dressing room, which is from the house, and whom the players would see as a solution to carry out a season that is getting increasingly uphill. In addition, the “eternal Seven” knows perfectly these extreme situations because he has lived them many times in his time as a Real Madrid footballer. He knows how the white wardrobe feels when these crises occur and in that sense he could be much more tactful when redirecting the situation.

Zidane's example

Zidane also arrived at Madrid in his first stage in the middle of the season and managed to straighten the course to the point of ending up winning the Champions League and fighting for the League until the last day. He came from the season and a half at Castilla, as would happen with Raúl. And the two had been legends of the club as players. In other words, it would be repeating the formula that was successful in 2016 with Zidane.

Personality

Raúl's roots with the club are a plus, but it can also be taken as a drawback. If the extreme situation is reached that Zidane has to leave the club, it will be with the conviction that the Frenchman was not the only problem. His track record and ability are beyond question. For that reason, many players would be singled out and with a foot and a half outside the club. In that sense, Pochettino would have an easier time pointing to certain heavyweights. If this project does not work, the necessary reconstruction of the staff would be more than evident. There, a coach with a lot of personality who also comes from abroad, such as the Argentine, would have less trouble making difficult decisions with players who have given Madrid many titles. So far, Zidane has always stood up for some players who are highly marked. Without the French, these players would lose their shield and would be left to the decisions made by the new coach.

New style

It is undeniable that modern football has changed. The references right now are Liverpool and Bayern. A physical style, high pressure and a lot of rhythm. Just the one that is practiced in the Premier, a football that Pochettino knows perfectly. This would play in favor of the Argentine, because Madrid has to adapt to that new style to regain its place in Europe. If Mauricio arrives, he would be given full powers to change the training models, more adapted to what is practiced in England and which has given such good results in recent years.
