Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s son arrested again

The Norwegian royal family is in the spotlight, and not for good reasons. This Saturday, Marius Borg HøibyPrincess Mette-Marit’s eldest son, has been arrested and released for allegedly violating a restraining order imposed on him following accusations of assault and abuse that already include four victims.

The arrest took place on Friday afternoon, according to his lawyer, Øyvind Bratlien. The 27-year-old was arrested for allegedly contacted one of the victims from a hidden phone number last September 7th.

The son of the Norwegian princess denies the accusations and declares himself innocent. Meanwhile, his lawyer says that, in his 17 years of experience, he has never seen an arrest with such weak grounds. On the other hand, the lawyer representing the person protected by the restraining order said that these types of orders are issued for a reason.

Last August, Høiby was charged with assault, property damage and threats after an incident at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Frogner Street in Oslo. The defendant later admitted causing both the injuries and the damage.

“Last weekend something happened that should never have happened. I committed bodily harm and destroyed objects in an apartment while intoxicated after consuming alcohol and cocaine following an argument. I have several mental disorders.which means that Throughout my childhood and my adult life I have had and continue to have several challenges“I have struggled with substance abuse for a long time, something I have been in treatment for in the past. I will now be resuming this treatment and taking it very seriously,” he said.

Marius has become the ‘black sheep’ of the family. At 27 years old, he has already been involved in several scandals, such as a prison sentence for drug trafficking, a national security scandal for revealing images of the Royal Family, or a crime against road safety just a few months ago.
