The Premier League agreed on Wednesday to introduce additional substitutions for concussions. This practice, which has already been approved by the IFAB, will be put to the test when the medical procedures are resolved with the IFAB itself and with FIFA.
According to this new protocol, A maximum of two additional substitutions will be allowed when a concussion occurs, allowing the opposing team to use the same number of substitutions.
These substitutions are independent of the number of changes the team has already made.
The introduction of this regulation was put on the table when the Mexican footballer of Wolverhampton Wanderers Raúl Jiménez fractured his skull in a collision with David Luiz, who instead of retiring from the field to be examined, remained playing for 45 more minutes.
