Powerchair, a type of futsal that is played in a wheelchair, opens this weekend the International Friendly Powerchair Tournament, in the pavilion of the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas (Madrid), a tournament of the highest category: a international championship in which the teams of Spain, Scotland and Mexico will be present, according to a statement from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
The entity, in collaboration with the association of Spanish Powerchair clubs (ACPFE), has launched this tournament, which will be held between November 3 and 5 with the teams of Spain, Scotland and Mexico as protagonists, within ” its promotion of social responsibility and inclusion policies, with the intention of making Powerchair known and disseminated among the population.
In total, nine matches will be played during the event, at times ranging from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In all of them, entry to the pavilion will be free and open until capacity is reached, as will access to the trophy presentation, which will be held in the same place on Sunday, at 7:30 p.m.
This Friday will be reserved for training and technical development; while on Monday there will be a day of coexistence between the participants and a visit to the Community of Madrid.
According to the RFEF, the stage, the Ciudad del Fútbol pavilion, will have all types of adaptations for people with reduced mobility. In addition, PMR seats (for people with reduced mobility) will be available, in an even greater number than usual.
Powerchair is a type of futsal that is played with four players on the 40×20 pitch, with teams of 8 members each, who participate in motorized wheelchairs. In Spain, a National League is played with 8 teams, and a Promotion Cup with 4 more teams. The national team began its journey in June 2021 with the support of the RFEF, participating for the first time in the EPFA CUP, which was held in Geneva (Switzerland) in August 2022.
