MADRID, 13 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish skier Pol Makuri finished this Thursday in the fifteenth position of the 12.5-kilometer classic style test of the Nordic ski discipline of the Paralympic Winter Sports World Championships that are being held in the Norwegian town of Lillehammer.

The man from Barcelona, who was born with hemiparesis, was facing his World Cup debut and was testing his participation in March at the Paralympic Games in Beijing and was “happy” after finishing the test with a time of 48:32.9, twelve seconds behind the winner , the Russian Vladislav Lekomtsev.

“The snow was frozen and transformed, I was a little afraid of how my right foot would react, but after making contact with the track and studying the terrain well, I went flat out. It was a tough race, with many walls and descents strong, the circuit allowed me to slide a little, but I am happy with how the body has responded,” said Pol Makuri in statements collected by the website of the Spanish Sports Federation of People with Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injury.

The 31-year-old Spanish skier will now have more than a week of ‘rest’ to prepare for the sprint test, his second and last at these Lillehammer World Championships.

In addition, the Basque Irati Idiakez, the best asset for the medal table, and the Asturian Víctor González, who will also be at the Beijing Games, also entered the competition this Thursday, the two Spanish athletes who participate in snowboarding and who made contact with the qualification of the modality of ‘banked slalom’.
