MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Dutch cyclist Wout Poels (Bahrain-Victorious) has conquered the 68th edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucía Ruta del Sol after retaining the leader’s jersey this Sunday in the fifth and final stage, 146.4 kilometers between Huesa and Chiclana de Safe and in which the German Lennard Kamna (Bora-Hansgrohe) has prevailed.
In Jiennense lands, Kamna made a good breakaway of the day to cross the finish line four seconds ahead of the Italian Lorenzo Fortunato (Eolo-Kometa) and with ten over the leader until Saturday, the also transalpine Alessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates).
Poels, who reached the final day ten seconds ahead of Colombian Miguel Ángel López (Astana Qazaqstan) and twelve seconds ahead of up to four other runners, defended his lead in the final kilometers, in which ‘Superman’, the defending champion of the appointment, attacked to try to snatch the first place.
Bahrain-Victorious responded well to the challenge and Poels was able to proclaim himself champion, topping a podium in which he was accompanied by the Spanish Cristian Rodríguez (TotalEnergies) and Miguel Ángel López himself.
