Players do not show up for salary negotiation

At ten o'clock in the morning the negotiating table between the club and its employees was set up to discuss the global reduction of the wage bill by 30 percent. As planned, the meeting did not attend the representatives of the first staff and the subsidiary, which account for 70% of the payroll expense. The table was finally constituted with the presence of the club's personnel officer and the president of the entity's company committee, leading the parties, who today maintain clearly distant positions.

Footballers maintain that the negotiation for the reduction or postponement of their chips is a This cannot be treated in the same context as the rest of the 540 non-sports employees of the entity, which have an impact on 4% of what is spent on salaries. The club, for its part, wants a joint negotiation to ensure that the agreement cannot be challenged on legal grounds.

Inside the dressing room, however, the position is not monolithic. For example, the renewal announced late Tuesday night of four footballers (Piqué, Ter Stegen, De Jong and Lenglet) who preferred to extend their contracts by adapting the collection of their tokens to the needs raised by the club, thus distancing themselves from collective bargaining. This means that in the short term the aforementioned players will charge less in exchange for extending their contract and recovering the amounts that they will now cease to receive over time. That is, it will be a payment that a new meeting will have to face.

Inside the club it is taken for sure that more footballers will join this modality despite the fact that only De Jong, Ter Stegen and Lenglet have not signed the burofax in which they informed the club that they were not going to appear at today's meeting. According to the lawyers who advise the players, both positions (that of not showing up and accepting a renewal) are perfectly compatible.

The club has set the deadline for reaching an agreement with the workers on November 5, two weeks from now. In the event that an agreement has not been reached after this period, the club will carry out the reduction unilaterally and if those affected are not satisfied, they will only have to go to the courts of the labor authority.
