Player of the Year Award: the young candidates

World Football Summit and AS will recognize the best player of the year, taking into account the 2019-20 season. With 15 applicants in each category, the list of candidates also focuses on the young people who shone in world football. Among the prominent names in the male category are two Bayern footballers, Kimmich and Davies, who won the triplet (League, Cup and Champions) with the Bavarian team, and Kylian Mbappé (PSG), who dazzled with PSG with 30 goals and 19 assists in all the competitions he played with the Parisian team.

For their part, in the female category are Lena Oberdorf (Essen) and Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal). The latter stood as the third player in the world with the most goals scored in 2019. The Arsenal player scored a total of 53 goals between her national team and her team this calendar year, surpassed only by Abderrazak Hamdullah, with 57 goals, and Robert Lewandowski, with 54 goals. In fact, he got on the podium of the great world killers ahead of Messi, who scored 50, or Cristiano, who scored 39. The Netherlands had a great level in the 2019-20 season, interrupted by COVID-19 , and left 16 goals in the League and 10 goals in the Champions League, being top scorer of the recently closed edition of the European tournament. Meanwhile, Oberdorf was recognized as one of the best young women of the season, after which she signed for Wolfsburg.

All fans will be able to vote for their favorite players on as.com. The vote of the public will have a value of 25%, while that of the jury will do it 75%. On November 16, six finalists will be announced, three per category, having to wait until Monday, November 16, to know the winners. The prizes will be delivered virtually on the 27th at a gala that can be followed online through as.com. These awards will be included in the WFS Industry Awards, which will be given at the WFS Live congress (23-27 November).

The young candidates for Player and Player of the Year

Joshua Kimmich (Bayern). Bayern's key figure, the versatile full-back (25 years old) was decisive in the Bavarian team's triplet. The German has been recognized as one of the most outstanding defenders of the previous season.

Alphonso Davies (Bayern). Great sensation at Bayern, the Canadian (19 years old) was one of the revelations of the 2019-20 season. Despite his young age, he displayed an immeasurable quality.

Kylian Mbappé (PSG). He was the great star of PSG, with which the French (21 years old) was runner-up in Europe after losing the final against Bayern. With a great game, Mbappé continues to be one of the figures to follow worldwide.
