Piatti: “If we do our job we will not depend on anyone to save us”

The Argentine forward of Elche Pablo Piatti He was confident of staying in First division of his new team and recalled that if the Elche team does things well, it will not depend on third parties to achieve the goal.

In an interview with Efe, the attacker, who arrived at the Elche club at the beginning of this month of March after an experience in the American competition, assured that his adaptation has been rapid, since he knew many members of the squad and the Spanish League.

“Having so many compatriots in the locker room makes everything more enjoyable, but I already knew most of the boys for having played against them and the coaching staff,” he said. Piatti, who highlighted the great atmosphere that exists in the changing room of the Elche.

The forward acknowledged that his idea was to spend more time in the MSL “because the experience on a personal and family level was very good”, although he specified that when Elche's offer appeared he quickly changed his mind.

“It was the opportunity to return to the elite and to feel a tickle in the belly again to compete again,” explained the Ucacha player.

The Argentine said that Elche's offer was not considered despite the critical situation of the team, which ended up being 16 games without a win and sunk in the relegation zone.

“I knew that with the change of coach everything was going to change. Beyond the game against Sevilla, the team was always close to adding and the feelings are positive. There is a goal and a closet fund to achieve the goal ”, he added.

Pablo Piatti pointed out next April as the key to his team's aspirations “because we have several direct duels”.

The attacker insisted to Efe that if Elche “does his job” he will not depend on anyone to save himself, although he specified that the team is more than prepared to suffer and endure the pressure until the end.

In this sense, the forward recalled how Elche managed to rise last season. “That shows the heart of this team. And the people who have joined are of the same race, humble, hard-working and of whom they lend their shoulders if things don't go ”, he commented.

Finally, Pablo Piatti, 31, assured that he has evolved a lot with respect to the player who was in Almeria, Valencia or Espanyol, his other teams in the Spanish competition.

“Almería had speed, but I didn't understand the game and I had to learn; In Valencia I grew a lot and I realized many things; and at Espanyol he was already a player with a journey, ”said the forward.

“El Piatti del Elche has matured and has grown in experience. It may not have that speed point anymore, but now you know when to exploit the dribble. All that is given to you over the years ”, he concluded.
