BARCELONA, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The still Barça handball goalkeeper Gonzalo Pérez De Vargas assured that, despite making the decision to renew as a blaugrana and go to German Kiel in 2025, he will continue to give everything for Barça for the next two seasons with the same commitment as always and the idea to close his ‘culer’ stage, with an expiration date, in the best of ways.
“My commitment to the club and to the team has always been above all else and will continue to be so. Being captain of this Barça has been a source of pride and a responsibility that I have tried to carry in the best way so that all the ‘culers ‘ you felt proud of our team and of how we have represented Barça”, he pointed out in an open letter on his social networks.
Pérez de Vargas, the undisputed starter in the goal for Barça and the Spanish team, will finish his contract at the Palau in 2025 and, in an unusual decision, he has already announced that he will go to German Kiel, a great rival of the blaugrana in the fight for the Champions League.
“It’s a decision that I’ve thought about for months and it obviously hasn’t been easy to make. I am at a point of maturity in my sports career and in my life and I have assessed everything before opting for the huge challenge of playing in the Bundesliga, the best league in the world, as the next step at a professional level”, he explained.
But, by not leaving until 2025, he stressed that it is not a farewell message, but to give information. “This is not a farewell, we will have time for that when the time comes, now we start another exciting season ahead and many goals to fight for” she warned.
“Now, without the bracelet, I will continue helping my teammates both on and off the track because that’s how I’ve always done it and because that’s how it has to be,” he said.
“Knowing that my stage at Barça has a deadline, I would like to enjoy one hundred percent of all the moments that remain of it with the same joy as the boy who arrived at the Palau Blaugrana at the age of 16 from Toledo. I am a ‘culer’ and I will always be, regardless of where I am,” he concluded.
