The players of the Spanish team Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas and Jorge Maqueda were two of those chosen in the 'All Star Team' of the European Handball Championship that was played in Austria, Norway and Sweden and crowned Spain as champion.
Pérez de Vargas was awarded his great tournament with the designation of best goalkeeper, endorsed in the final against Crocia with an 8/19 and being key at many times, while Maqueda was chosen as the best right back.
In addition, the Croatian central Domagoj Duvnjak was designated 'MVP' of the European, while the rest of the 'Star Team' were the Croatian Igor Karacic (central), the Norwegian Lander Sagosen (left side), the Hungarian Bence Bahidi (pivot) , the Slovenian Jaz Blanc (extreme right) and the Norwegian Magnus Joendal (extreme left). The German Hendrik Pekeler was named as the best defender.
