Perera: “On a personal level, I give the season a ten”

Roberto Perera, Cádiz's second coach, analyzes the yellow team's season on their return to LaLiga Santander for the club's official media. Perera, Álvaro Cervera's right-hand man, affirms that “it has been a spectacular season. If anyone tells us that we are going to save ourselves with four days to go, we will not believe him ”. The coach is left with the victory against Granada.

Season balance. The Canarian coach offered his particular vision of the campaign just ended to affirm that “it has been a spectacular season. If anyone tells us that we are going to save ourselves with four days to go… we don't believe him ”. He added that “all seasons have their ups and downs and their moments, specifically a complicated period with difficult games helped us to realize what our path was. Those results at the point level were bad, but at the level of consolidating the idea it was good for us ”.

The best and worst moment of the team? He recalled that “taking away the victories of Barça and Madrid, which are the ones that have the most repercussion, when we beat Granada it was a very nice feeling. A feeling almost like the day of the ascent. Feeling of duty accomplished and it was very pretty ”. He added that “the worst memory I have of the season was Athletic's day, I went home badly. The feelings of that game were not good from the beginning. He also pointed out that “we are a strong group. When something bad happens to us we support each other. I always see the glass as half full. I am left with very beautiful moments ”.

Personal balance. Cervera's right hand was clear when pointing out that “on a personal level it has been spectacular. The day-to-day life is very nice, the games, going to fields that I had seen only on TV, facing players that you see on TV. Being there with them is very nice. It has been a spectacular season. There are periods of psychological pressure, as is normal, but on a personal level I give it a ten. I hope we continue to enjoy it for a long time ”.

Aspirations for the next season. Looking ahead to the next course, he said that “being the same as this season it would be incredible. The second year is always more difficult. Now you came with the illusion of promotion, you come with euphoria, we have done very well and you can mark the list higher and it may be a mistake ”. He added that “I will try to continue learning, putting my best into the coach, the coaching staff, the team, the club.”

A moment of the course. He recalled that “one day the fans came, before the Eibar game, to tell us that whatever happened they would be with us. That got to me. That they told us that made me feel very proud. ” Along the same lines, he added that “at a sporting level, I have the victories against Madrid and Barça there. We did it in one season, something very complicated. The victory that I value the most is that of Eibar in Carranza. That day we thought we could save ourselves because he was a direct rival. It was the final takeoff ”.

One word to define the season. “Spectacular,” he stressed. And he argued that “we are a newly promoted team. We had not been in First for a long time and the first year you go up it costs a little more. Some had never played First. I define it as spectacular. A recently promoted one who with four days to go we have been saved, we were never in relegation positions, it is something spectacular. We didn't have much trouble despite having a bad streak. “
