Pepe, the Golden Dragon

Porto celebrated its 127th birthday on Monday. The celebrations of this anniversary have consisted of several events. One of them has been the delivery of the Golden Dragons awards. The ex-Madridista Pepe has been one of those awarded. The center-back received the Golden Dragon that recognizes him as the best soccer player of the club in 2020. The president of Porto, Pinto da Costa, presented him with the award at a ceremony that took place at the Estadio do Dragao.

It is the second time in Pepe's career that Porto has recognized him as the best player on the team. The first time was in 2006, a few months before signing for Madrid. Pepe returned to Porto in the 2018-19 campaign. “Receiving the second is rewarding. Show what I give daily to the club and colleagues. Being from this Porto family is a feeling that I cannot describe. I thank the president for the possibility of being able to return, for the courage he had to bring me back to my house, when others said that it was difficult to return. I could have chosen another option, but I wanted that challenge and give my contribution, “said Pepe on the official channels of Porto.
