Pepe Martí will race in Formula 2 with Red Bull and Campos Racing

MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The young Spanish driver Pepe Martí will compete in the Formula 2 category with Campos Racing and Red Bull, after two seasons in F-3, in a “huge opportunity” for the Barcelonan, according to a statement.

“The 18-year-old driver makes the leap to the Formula 2 category with Campos Racing and the colors of Red Bull,” announced the Spaniard’s press team, confirming his arrival in the intermediate category after two years in Formula 3.

In 2023, Martí fought until the end for the F-2 title, in a year of growth for the young national talent, adding four podiums to his record, three of them victories and two pole positions. A boot that helped him convince the ‘energetic’ structure, which now incorporates him into their junior team for the intermediate category.

The Spaniard will form a tandem with the Frenchman Isack Hadjar in the Campos Racing team, and they will be the only junior Red Bull drivers on the F-2 grid. Thus, Martí will continue to defend the team with which he finished third in Formula 4 in 2021, before moving up to F-3.

“The good relationship they maintain and the fact that they know each other so much at the level of the work system, makes the team and driver excited to start this new cycle,” they highlighted from the driver’s communication, who will start this new stage this Wednesday in the official tests of F-2 on the Yas Marina layout, in Abu Dhabi.

Martí thanked Red Bull, his family and Campos Racing for this new challenge. “Especially to Adrián Campos, both father and son, for having trusted me from the beginning. I think Adrián ‘father’ would be very proud to see how far we have come,” he said.

“I am very proud to be in Formula 2 with Campos Racing. I really want to get started. I think it is a huge opportunity for me, to continue growing and evolving in my sporting career. In addition to the privilege of being part of a grid like the F-2, the prelude to Formula 1, doing it with the colors of Red Bull is an honor and a very special opportunity,” he acknowledged.

The Barcelona native, who was in contact with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko since winning the Spanish GP in Montmeló, also predicted a “very fun” year for 2024 that he faces “with great enthusiasm.”
