Peleteiro and Katir lead Spain in the European Team Championship in Poland

The Spanish triple jumper Ana Peleteiro, bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will compete internationally again 15 months later after becoming a mother and, together with the middle-distance runner Mohamed Katir, will lead the Spanish team in the European Team Championship, which will be held in Silesia (Poland). ) from June 20 to 25.

The Spanish team will be made up of 46 athletes, 23 men and 23 women, and apart from Peleteiro, Mohamed Katir stands out, who will run the 1,500m, the distance in which he won world bronze last summer in Oregon (United States), and Adrián Ben , recent European 800 indoor champion, as announced on Monday by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA).

In addition to Peleteiro, Ben and Katir, the team led by José Peiró will include rookies Thierry Ndikumwenayo in the 5,000m and Madrid’s Marta Serrano, who arrives after breaking the Spanish under-23 record of 3,000 obstacles with 9:27.07, the sixth best European brand of the year.

The relays will also be a medal option with the women’s 4×100 and the mixed 4×400, in addition to other important athletes such as the Valencian Quique Llopis (110 hurdles), who returns to the team after his fall in the final of the European Indoor Track.

(length) and Belén Toimil (weight).

The European by Teams returns to the Polish city of Silesia after the last edition of 2021, in which Spain achieved fifth place, equaling the best classification in its history. In 2025, the European Athletics Team Championships will take place in Madrid.
