The world of football mourns the loss of Francisco Gento, one of the best players in the history of Real Madrid and the only player to have lifted six European Cups. The reactions to the death of the Galerna del Cantábrico are being incessant and one of the last to say goodbye to his figure has been Pelé.
The legendary former Brazilian soccer player, considered one of the best in history, dedicated an emotional message to Gento, “the greatest European champion to date”, on his social networks.
“Paco Gento is another soccer genius who says goodbye to us. The greatest European champion to date. He was still a child when we faced him and other Real Madrid legends at the Santiago Bernabéu on a European tour. Memories of great nostalgia and passion for football, which are even more alive today. I leave here my feelings of affection to all friends and family,” Pelé wrote on his Instagram account.
