“The time has come to say goodbye, only this time I'm not going to say 'See you tomorrow'. I close 51 years of profession between the daily Pueblo, National Radio, and 34 of those years on television,” the veteran journalist recalled. “I appeared for the first time with Pilar Miró on Spanish Television, it was 1988, and I became embedded in the screens. Good years there, good years also on Antena 3, 12 in total, and the last 18 here, in this house, on Telecinco.”
Piqueras has thanked his teachers, colleagues and also the audience for these years: “I am very grateful to all those who have taught me this craft and to you for allowing me to enter your homes. The time has come to leave and say thank you.” to the directors of this channel and to my colleagues with whom I have tried to make news based on respect for the facts and the opinions of the protagonists.
He wanted to make way for his replacement, Carlos Franganillo, with a nice recognition: “My place is going to be taken by a journalist with whom I have been lucky enough to share coverage of elections, investitures, volcanoes, earthquakes… His name is Carlos Franganillo and he comes from that great school that is public television and he joins this Telecinco team where he will also find great colleagues, technicians, cameras, producers, journalists, presenters…”.
