Spanish tennis player Pedro Martínez was eliminated this Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Bastad tournament, ATP 250 category that is disputed on clay, after losing in two sets at the hands of Chilean Cristian Garín (6-3 and 6-3) in a match that lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
The 24-year-old Valencian could not stop the good game of number 18 of the circuit, and ended up yielding by a double 6-3. Garín was forceful to break the service in the fifth and in the ninth game of the first set; and in the second and sixth of the final. His next rival will be the Argentine Federico Coria.
The 'Armada' still has a tennis player in the Bastad men's team thanks to the presence of Roberto Carballés in the round of 16, where Italian Fabio Fognini will be measured this Thursday, third favorite to win the trophy on Swedish clay.
