Pedro Martínez opens his record with the title in Chile

First ATP title for the Valencian, who came back in the final against Argentine Báez

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Pedro Martínez raised this Sunday the first title of his career in the ATP by coming back (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) to the Argentine Sebastián Báez in the final of the tournament in Santiago (Chile), category 250 and disputed on land.

The Valencian, who had previously played another final in Kitzbuhel in 2021, premiered his record against a Báez who also aspired to inaugurate his showcase. Martinez turned the match around after losing the first set and going a break down in the second.

The Argentine player quickly lost that income and the Spanish forced the third set with another ‘break’ more. The rest also signed up for the final sleeve, in which the two had their moment. Martínez will arrive with a new status at the Davis Cup event.

The Valencian entered this Sunday in the Spanish team that will play against Romania on March 4 and 5 at the Puente Romano Tennis Club in Marbella (Málaga), replacing the injured Marcel Granollers.
