Spanish ex-pilot Pedro Martínez de la Rosa became the new ambassador of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, where his compatriot Fernando Alonso will compete from next year, and in which he will also be in charge of helping to detect young talent.

“In an entirely new role, Pedro de la Rosa will take on communications, media, public relations, marketing, promotional, commercial and general advisory roles for Aston Martin, working primarily with our communications/media/PR team, our marketing specialists , our visitor services operations and our commercial sales staff, to maximize the team’s off-track potential,” Aston Martin said in a statement.

“I am delighted to be joining the Aston Martin team as its ambassador. I already know many faces within the team, having worked extensively with Fernando Alonso during my time at McLaren and Ferrari, and I look forward to meeting everyone within the organisation.

The former driver hopes to draw on his “experience and insights to help the team grow and further build on the momentum it has been building ahead of the 2023 season, with a particular focus on supporting the commercial and marketing side of the business.”
