The Spanish tennis players Pedro Martínez and Fernando Verdasco could not advance to the second round of their respective tournaments in Córdoba (Argentina), which is played on clay, and Dallas (United States), on indoor hard courts.
The Valencian player, despite starting as the seventh seed in the Argentine event, could not in his debut with the Chilean Cristian Garín, who defeated him after two and a half hours of match in three sets by 7-6(3), 2- 6, 6-0.
For his part, the veteran lefty from Madrid, classified to the main draw of the Dallas tournament from the previous phase, fell to the American McKenzie McDonald, Rafa Nadal’s executioner in the last Australian Open and who clearly won 6-3 , 6-0 in a match where Verdasco dominated the first quarter with 3-2 after a ‘break’ and did not win any game again.
