MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The U-20 women’s national coach, Pedro López, acknowledged that they are going to enjoy the World Cup “to the fullest”, the “best” way to convey the team’s philosophy after beating Mexico (1-0) in the quarterfinals and achieving thus the pass to the semifinals of the world event.
“We’re going to enjoy every day to the fullest because we don’t know if we’ll ever experience a World Cup like this again. That’s going to be the way to convey what we are, the joy and the group in the semifinals against the next rival,” explained the coach in statements officials to the Spanish soccer team, collected by Europa Press.
Along these lines, López acknowledged that being among the four best teams in the world is “something that we would have dreamed of at the beginning of the season”, although “a lot of work and effort” is necessary to achieve it.
“We have not played the best game or the one we would have liked. But to advance in this type of competition you have to be effective. The girls are showing that they know how to interpret different situations. In defense we continue with a clean sheet”, he added on the victory suffered against Mexico.
“We are a happy team, once we enter the competition we no longer remember the days we have been and what lies ahead,” he said. For her part, the goalkeeper of the national team Txell Font highlighted the great work of the national team to get the pass to the semifinals. “It was a difficult game, both teams had chances, but in the end the team’s hunger turned into a victory,” she said.
