Pedro Acosta: “It is the right time to jump to MotoGP and lay a good foundation with KTM”

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Pedro Acosta (Kalex) stated this Thursday that “it is the right time to jump to MotoGP and lay a good foundation with KTM”, having confirmed his promotion for 2024 from Moto2 to the highest category of the World Championship, hand in hand from the GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 team.

“We see that everything is very competitive and we are close to Ducati, it is the right time to jump to MotoGP, lay a good foundation with KTM and then try to catch up with them. Because in one or two years we are going to see that the KTM They are going to be one of the best bikes on the grid,” Acosta said at a press conference from Lombok (Indonesia).

“Those who supported me in Moto3 were KTM and those who have paid me everything in my career from the moment I entered the championship were them, and for that reason I have to give them the opportunity,” he stressed about his loyalty to KTM despite to the leap in displacement for next year.

“Everything has already been done at the confirmation level and now we will try to focus on Moto2, we will try to finish this championship in the best possible way and then focus on MotoGP. It is incredible to be in the ‘box’ with Augusto [Fernández] because we share great memories of Moto2. And why not learn from him in my first year in MotoGP,” he predicted.

“I have told him from the beginning, I believe in KTM and in the end we have seen that they have really pushed for me. Now I think the time has come to learn and try to focus on what is important,” Acosta added, showing himself ambitious: “To “It’s not a challenge for me yet.”

“First of all we have to finish the Moto2 season in the best possible way, and then we can start thinking about other things. At the moment, I’m not focusing on that challenge. We have Brad [Binder]usually fighting for victories, Jack [Miller] for podiums, Augusto for the ‘top 10’… and it will be difficult for me to reach them, but we are going to try,” said Acosta.

“When it is not possible to win, we have to extract the maximum from each of the moments. This was the mentality from the beginning of the season. Last year I perhaps lost the championship at the beginning because I scored six zeros in the first seven races. And This year I have learned that, if I don’t get stressed, I am capable of going further,” he concluded.
