This Thursday “Kick Out Plastic” was presented online, an ecological initiative chaired by Lars Böcking and for ex-international soccer player with Spain, Mark Senna, which they attended as ambassadors Pedri González, Ferran Torres, footballer of Manchester City, Omar mascarell, captain of the Schalke 04 and Ivana Andres, captain of the Real Madrid.

The project, as explained by its president, tries to use the power and visibility of sport as an engine of change towards a more sustainable planet, free of single-use plastics.

The young Barcelona footballer, who aroused a great uproar by using a plastic bag as a toiletry bag, said that from a young age he was educated in the culture of recycling. In addition, referring to the natural beauty of his birthplace, Tenerife, he pointed out: “I grew up between beaches and mountains, there are places too beautiful to be spoiled by the neglect of people.”

Asked about last Tuesday's game against Juventus in the Champions League, Pedri admitted that it was a “hard blow” but he insisted that they must continue to work without excuses.

Ferran TorresHe commented that there has been an important change in the awareness of society about caring for the environment. “Years ago people were not aware of the problem we are experiencing, Now the seriousness of the matter is beginning to be understood, but there is much work to be done, “he said.

He also talked about his coach, Pep Guardiola. “It is important that figures of the stature and impact of Guardiola are in favor of these initiatives”, he expressed.

Omar mascarell highlighted the high level of awareness of the German society on ecological matters. “I've been in Germany for five years and from the first moment I noticed that they were taking this issue seriously, the rest of the countries have to learn, it is time to act together, “he said.

“For me this project is a lifestyle, I have been recycling for years and trying to consume as little plastic from a possible use, The fact that by 2050 there will be more plastics than fish in the sea scares me “, confessed Ivana Andres.

Lars concluded the presentation by stating that it is a project with an international dimension, in which the “little” gesture is valued when changing the world.
