Paulo Nagamura to be appointed new coach of Houston Dynamo FC

When all the roads pointed to Jaime lozano (coach of the ‘Tri’ Olímpico who achieved bronze in Tokyo 2020) to become the fifth Mexican coach to disembark in the MLS, the leadership of the Houston Dynamo FC changed course and chose the Brazilian Paulo Nagamura to lead the Texas franchise next season, following the departure of Tab Ramos.

After finishing last in the Western Conference in the 2021 season, Houston targets a relaunch under the new owner Ted Segal and your new general manager Pat Onstad, who agreed on the name of Nagamura to command the template.

The Brazilian will reach Houston after handling the reserve team of Sporting Kansas City from 2018 to November of this year when he announced his departure.

Before starting your coaching career, Nagamura completed 12 seasons in Major League Soccer between Sporting Kansas City, LA Galaxy, Toronto FC and the already disappeared Chivas USA, with 252 regular season games where he won two MLS Cups and three US Open Cups.

Player emerged in the reserve divisions of the São Paulo, and after seven years in the São Paulo club he went to Arsenal from England where he played between 2001 and 2004.

In addition to his extensive MLS career, the Japanese-born player / coach also had a brief stint through Tigers from Mexico in the 2009/10 season.

The next announcement of Nagamura for Houston deepen a trend of new head coaches hailing from MLS, which includes Ezra Hendrickson for Chicago Fire FC Y Pat Noonan for FC Cincinnati.
